Traffic Marshall Jobs in N5 | Immediate Start & Flexible Shifts

As a Traffic Marshall operating in N5, your primary duty is to ensure the safety of all site personnel and the public. You will be the frontline communicator for vehicle and pedestrian movement, requiring vigilance, clear signalling, and a firm understanding of site-specific traffic management plans (TMPs).

• Implementing Traffic Management Plans: Setting up and maintaining temporary signage, cones, barriers, and pedestrian walkways in strict accordance with the approved TMP and Chapter 8 regulations (UK).
• Directing Vehicle Movement: Safely guiding construction vehicles, delivery trucks, and plant machinery (e.g., diggers, cranes) on and around the site using clear hand signals and 'Stop/Go' boards. This includes managing reversing vehicles and ensuring safe access for emergency services.
• Pedestrian Safety Management: Controlling public footfall, ensuring safe crossing points are established and used, and communicating clearly with members of the public to prevent entry into hazardous zones.
• Communication & Coordination: Maintaining constant radio/verbal contact with site supervisors, crane operators, and banksmen. Reporting any incidents, near misses, or breaches of safety procedures immediately.
• Monitoring Site Perimeter: Continuously observing the site boundary and traffic flow to identify potential hazards, such as unauthorised vehicle parking or members of the public straying into the work area.
• Equipment Checks: Conducting daily inspections of all traffic management equipment (signs, lights, PPE) to ensure they are clean, functional, and correctly positioned.

• Chapter 8 / NHSS 12D / 12AB Qualification: Formal training in safety at street works and road works is essential. This certification proves your knowledge of the Safety at Street Works and Road Works code of practice.
• Proven Experience: Previous experience as a Traffic Marshal, Banksman, or in a similar site safety role is required. Experience within London or dense urban environments like N5 is a significant advantage.
• Excellent Communication Skills: The ability to give clear, unambiguous instructions to drivers and the public, often in noisy conditions, is critical. Patience and a firm but polite manner are key.
• Full PPE Kit: You must possess your own appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including high-visibility clothing (Class 3), safety boots, hard hat, and gloves.
• Right to Work in the UK: All candidates must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
