Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications to set out masonry work accurately, including building foundations, walls, arches, and other structures to precise measurements.
- Mixing mortar by hand or using mechanical mixers to the correct consistency, and applying it with a trowel to lay bricks, concrete blocks, and other types of masonry units in courses, ensuring perfect alignment, level, and plumb.
- Cutting and shaping bricks and blocks using powered cutters, bolsters, and hammers to fit around openings, corners, and obstructions, maintaining a clean, professional finish.
- Pointing and finishing mortar joints to the specified finish (flush, weatherstruck, recessed) and cleaning down completed work with appropriate brushes and tools.
- Working collaboratively with other site trades, including Painter And Decorator teams who will follow on, and following instructions from site foremen and managers to maintain project timelines.
- Strict adherence to all site health & safety regulations (SSSP, RAMS), maintaining a clean and tidy work area, and correctly using and storing all personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bricklayer on UK construction sites.
- Valid CSCS Card (any colour, preferably Blue or Gold).
- Own reliable transport to reach sites across Trafford Park M17.
- Full understanding of UK building regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to read construction drawings and work from specifications.
- Right to work in the UK (we will conduct checks).
