Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

  Chairside Assistance & Clinical Support: Provide efficient and knowledgeable chairside assistance to the dentist during a wide range of dental procedures, including restorative work, oral surgery, endodontics, and hygiene appointments. Anticipate the clinician's needs, prepare treatment rooms, and ensure all instruments and materials are sterilised and ready.

  Infection Control & Decontamination: Maintain the highest standards of cross-infection control in line with HTM 01-05 guidelines. Be responsible for the entire decontamination cycle, including cleaning, sterilising, and tracking of dental instruments, ensuring a safe clinical environment for patients and staff.

  Patient Care & Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for patients in the surgery, providing reassurance, clear explanations, and excellent customer service. Record accurate patient notes, update medical histories, and provide tailored post-operative advice and oral health education.

  Radiography & Laboratory Liaison: Take and process dental radiographs (if qualified) following IR(ME)R regulations. Manage the sending and receiving of laboratory work, such as impressions for crowns, bridges, and dentures, ensuring timely and accurate communication with dental technicians.

  Administration & Stock Control: Support the smooth running of the practice by assisting with administrative tasks, managing clinical stock levels, ordering supplies, and ensuring equipment is maintained and reported for service when required.
