Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Customer Service & Front of House: Greeting attendees, scanning tickets, managing queues, and providing excellent customer service to ensure a positive event experience. Directing guests, answering queries, and handling entry points with efficiency and a friendly demeanour.
- Crowd Management & Safety: Proactively monitoring crowd flow and density, identifying potential issues before they escalate. Working closely with security teams to ensure patron safety and adherence to venue policies, including implementing emergency evacuation procedures if required.
- Merchandise & Concession Support: Assisting with the setup, operation, and breakdown of merchandise stalls, food kiosks, and bar areas. This includes handling cashless and cash transactions, stock replenishment, and maintaining a clean sales environment.
- Backstage & Production Assistance: Supporting the event production team with logistical tasks. This may involve helping with equipment load-in/load-out, guiding artists and crew, distributing passes, and ensuring backstage areas are secure and organised for performers.
- Venue Preparation & Breakdown: Playing a crucial role in the event lifecycle by assisting with pre-event setup (placing signage, arranging barriers, preparing seating areas) and post-event breakdown (clearing litter, dismantling temporary structures, and returning the venue to its original state).
- Information Point & Accessibility Support: Manning information booths, distributing programmes, and providing detailed guidance on facilities. Offering dedicated support to guests with accessibility requirements, ensuring their event experience is seamless and comfortable.
Essential Skills & Requirements
- Proven Experience in Customer-Facing Roles: Previous work in hospitality, retail, events, or a similar fast-paced environment where excellent communication and problem-solving are key.
- Outstanding Communication & Teamwork: The ability to communicate clearly and politely with the public, colleagues, and management. You must be a reliable team player who can follow instructions and also use initiative.
- Physical Stamina & Flexibility: Concert staff roles involve long periods of standing, walking, and sometimes lifting light items. You must be prepared for varied shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and late finishes.
- Calm Under Pressure: The capacity to remain professional, courteous, and efficient during busy periods, dealing with large crowds and potential customer complaints with a solutions-focused approach.
- Right to Work in the UK: Must have valid documentation proving eligibility to work in the United Kingdom. A basic DBS check may be required for certain venues.

Unless specified otherwise, we recommend smart-casual, all-black attire (black trousers/skirt, black polo shirt or smart t-shirt, and comfortable black shoes). This presents a professional, unified image. Always avoid logos, jeans, or trainers unless told otherwise. For outdoor events, practical layers and waterproofs are advised. Specific uniform requirements will always be communicated in your shift briefing.
Absolutely. While prior event experience is beneficial, we highly value transferable skills from roles in retail, hospitality, customer service, or team-based environments. Your ability to communicate, solve problems, and work hard is what we look for first. We provide comprehensive pre-event briefings for every assignment to ensure you are fully prepared. Many of our most successful concert staff started with no specific event background.
labourer.agency operates a reliable weekly payroll. You will submit your timesheet at the end of each week, which is then verified with the client. Payment for all hours worked is then processed and paid directly into your UK bank account the following week. You will receive a clear payslip detailing your hours, rate, and any deductions. We pride ourselves on prompt, accurate payment – a cornerstone of our service you can read more about in our Our Guarantee page.
Yes, progression is a key part of our model. Consistent, reliable, and proactive concert staff are often promoted to Team Leader or Supervisor roles, managing small teams on-site. These roles come with increased responsibility and higher pay. Furthermore, excelling in temporary roles is the most common pathway to permanent positions with our client venues and event companies. We actively advocate for our staff and recommend stand-out performers for advanced opportunities. For insights into career growth in different sectors, see our page on Construction Management Careers.
We have established partnerships with a wide range of event spaces across the city and region.
