Job Description
We are seeking diligent and hardworking General Labourers for various positions throughout the Birmingham area. Successful candidates will be responsible for assisting with construction projects, participating in warehouse operations, and performing a range of physical tasks on job sites. This may include handling materials, operating machinery, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Load and unload construction materials and move them to work areas
- Prepare and clean up construction sites, removing debris, and ensuring adherence to safety regulations
- Execute demolition work and salvage useful materials with guidance
- Use hand tools and power tools to complete tasks under direction
- Assist skilled tradespeople with their duties, as required
- Erect and dismantle temporary structures such as scaffolding
- Dig trenches, backfill holes, or compact earth to prepare for construction
- Perform landscaping duties, including digging, planting, and maintaining outdoor spaces
- Follow instructions from supervisors and implement construction plans
- Adhere to company policies and safety standards, and report any issues to site management
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Physical strength and stamina
- Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions
- Good communication skills
- Basic understanding of construction principles and methods
- Comfortable operating hand tools and machinery
- Awareness of health and safety regulations
- No formal qualifications are required, but a high school diploma or equivalent may be beneficial
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience as a general labourer or in a similar physical role is preferred but not essential as training may be provided
- Construction skills or certifications (e.g., CSCS card) can be advantageous
